A routine traffic stop during Monday’s winter storm led to a major drug bust in Porter County.

Indiana State Police say a trooper spotted a gray Jeep speeding through a snow and ice-covered construction zone on State Road 49.

After the driver, 35-year-old Daniel Aguilar Ramirez of Knox, finally pulled over, troopers say he gave conflicting statements about his travel plans.

A police K-9 alerted to drugs inside the vehicle, where officers found about eleven pounds of suspected cocaine packaged in an Amazon box.

Ramirez was arrested and booked into the Porter County Jail for dealing cocaine and is also being held on an immigration detainer.
