The St. Joseph County Council postponed a decision on rezoning land for a proposed data center near New Carlisle, setting the next hearing for Dec. 9.
The people behind the project asked for more time before a final vote, frustrating some residents. “The more they delay it, the harder it’s going to be for them to get support,” said Dan Caruso, who has protested at multiple council meetings.
Two weeks ago, a council committee voted 3-2 to send the project to the full council with an unfavorable recommendation.
Councilwoman Amy Drake said the people behind the project are using the delay to sway more council and community members.
