Indiana’s unemployment rate dropped to 3.7 percent in September, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, remaining below the national rate of 4.4 percent.
The state saw the strongest job gains in Professional and Business Services, Leisure and Hospitality, and Manufacturing, highlighting continued growth across multiple sectors.
Locally, the Elkhart-Goshen Metropolitan Statistical Area reported an unemployment rate of 3.7 percent in September, down from 4.1 percent in August.
The South Bend-Mishawaka MSA, which includes St. Joseph County, also saw improvement, with unemployment falling to 3.8 percent in September from 4.3 percent the previous month, signaling steady regional labor market strength.
