A bipartisan plan to expand the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force passed a key Senate committee unanimously.
Senate Bill 148, authored by Senator Rodney Pol Junior, would add LaPorte and Porter counties to the task force’s jurisdiction.
Since its creation in 2021, the task force has removed over 1,500 illegal firearms from Indiana streets.
Senator Pol says the expansion will provide Northwest Indiana with essential resources to combat organized crime and gun violence.
