The Indiana football team held a press conference Tuesday morning following its first national championship. The Hoosiers beat the Miami Hurricanes 27-21 Monday night in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, finishing an undefeated 16-0 season.

Linebacker Aiden Fisher, quarterback Fernando Mendoza, and head coach Curt Cignetti spoke about the key moments that made the win possible.

Mendoza, who won the Heisman Trophy in December, delivered a defining play late in the fourth quarter. On a fourth-and-4, he ran a 12-yard quarterback draw, breaking tackles and diving into the end zone to put Indiana ahead.

The victory completes one of the most remarkable turnarounds in college football, turning a 2024 playoff loss into a national championship two years later. Cignetti and the team reflected on their journey, emphasizing hard work, perseverance, and belief in one another.

The win brings the College Football Playoff trophy to Bloomington for the first time and secures Indiana’s place in college football history.
