Indiana lawmakers push to repeal law protecting diabetic children

Some Indiana lawmakers are pushing to repeal a law that protects children with diabetes in schools, arguing that federal laws already provide sufficient safeguards.
However, advocates, including the American Diabetes Association, argue that the state law, known as Hunter’s Law, is crucial for children to manage their diabetes in class and for educators to receive training and protection.
The law was named after Hunter Sego, who faced challenges managing his diabetes in school before the law was enacted in 2007.
Rep. Becky Cash plans to present an amendment to save Hunter’s Law before the bill goes before the House for review.
