Famed Notre Dame championship coach Lou Holtz in hospice care

College football icon Lou Holtz has entered hospice care, according to reports from On3 and Kyle Sutherland. Holtz is 89.

He coached the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for a decade, highlighted by a perfect season and national championship in 1988.

Over 33 years of coaching, he posted nearly 250 career wins and later became a television analyst for ESPN.

Holtz was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
