An Elkhart teen is facing an attempted murder charge stemming from a December shooting.

Elkhart police were called at 10:17 p.m. on December 23 to the 700 block of Monroe Street where they found a 17-year-old boy with gunshot wounds inside the apartment building.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police also learned an 18-year-old male arrived at the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries related to the incident.

The Goshen News says 17-year-old suspect, Davonte Jones, was treated, medically cleared, and taken into custody.

Jones’ jury trial remains set for April 6, with a status hearing March 12.
