The Community Foundation of Elkhart County has awarded a $120,000 capital campaign grant to Gymtown Food Bank.
The grant will be used to expand cold storage and help meet rising food needs.
The one-year grant will fund additional refrigeration and freezer space as Gymtown grows from a single pantry into a food bank supplying other pantries across the county.
The foundation’s Kids and Families Committee recommended the grant, citing Gymtown’s expanding role in fighting food insecurity.
The food bank opened in late 2025 and now serves 48 partner pantries, schools, and organizations.
Officials say the added cold storage will allow more fresh and frozen foods to be safely stored and distributed, strengthening the countywide Hunger Ends Here food access network.
