Steuben County Council President Dan Caruso testified before the Indiana Senate Committee on Public Policy in support of House Bill 1038, which aims to relocate a casino license to northeast or eastern Indiana.
The bill was approved by the Senate Committee on Public Policy and will now move to the Senate Appropriations Committee for further action.
The bill, which follows a study commissioned by the state, could lead to significant economic opportunities for the selected host county.
The legislation only allows existing casino operators in Indiana to apply for the license relocation.
