Lindsey introduces bill to repeal Michigan cannabis tax

State Senator Jonathan Lindsey has introduced legislation to repeal Michigan’s new 24% wholesale cannabis tax.
Lindsey, a Republican representing Cass and part of Berrien counties, says the tax is unnecessary and hurting businesses.
Supporters, including the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association, argue the tax has led to closures, layoffs, and financial strain.
WSJM reports the tax was approved in late 2025 to generate revenue for road repairs.
The bill now heads to the Legislature for consideration.
