The son of Rod Roberson was arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating While Intoxicated with a Prior conviction, a Level 6 felony.
According to the Elkhart Police Department, officers responded to the McDonald’s – 130 N Main St around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, for a report of an unknown medical problem. Officers found a Kia Optima stopped in the drive-thru lane between the pickup windows with the driver asleep.
Police identified the driver as 35-year-old Christian Roberson and noted signs of possible impairment. Medics from the Elkhart Fire Department responded, but Roberson reported no medical issues. Officers administered field sobriety tests and a portable breath test. Authorities later obtained a judicial warrant for a certified blood draw. Roberson was transported to a hospital for testing, and results are pending.
He was taken to the Elkhart County Jail. The case has been forwarded to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for review of formal charges.
Mayor Roberson released a statement saying he and his wife love and support their son but believe driving under the influence is dangerous and unacceptable. He added their son will face the matter through the appropriate legal process.

Perhaps the mayor had his son design the new traffic patterns in downtown Elkhart. Why would he change well working patterns that were established before the mayor was even born. Fool Hardy.
This reminds me of the big tech companies. They higher well paid foreign engineers then have to find work for them to do. So they screw with apps and programs that work just fine and do what people want to=hem to do.
I will avoid downtown at all costs! The ONLY reason to go there is to visit the Post Office. But that failing organization has it’s own problems beyond just getting there.
