Authorities seek public’s help identifying driver in Elkhart County hit-and-run

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist unconscious.

The crash happened around 6:40 p.m. on February 7 near the intersection of State Road 19 and Quail Ridge Drive in Elkhart County.

Investigators say a person riding a bicycle was struck by a vehicle believed to be an SUV. After hitting the bicyclist and knocking him unconscious, the driver left the scene.

Authorities believe the vehicle may be a 2010 to 2024 Toyota 4Runner. The SUV is expected to have damage on the passenger side and may also have a broken mirror.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the crash, the driver, or the vehicle to contact the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office at 574-533-4151.
