Home sales across Indiana jumped in February.
Slightly lower mortgage rates and improved weather brought buyers back into the market. According to the Indiana Association of REALTORS, nearly 4,900 homes closed statewide, up 17 percent from January.
The Elkhart area saw a 17 percent increase in new listings compared to last year, giving buyers more options heading into the spring market. Meanwhile, homes in the South Bend area are still moving quickly, going under contract in an average of just 18 days.
Statewide, the median home price reached 260,000 dollars, while mortgage rates averaging just over six percent are helping improve affordability for many Hoosier buyers.
