Man killed in early Sunday morning shooting on South Bend’s west side

Police are investigating a fatal early morning shooting on South Bend’s west side.

According to the South Bend Police Department, officers responded around 2:10 a.m. on Sunday, March 15, after a ShotSpotter alert indicated gunfire in the 3200 block of West Dunham Street.

While officers were responding, dispatchers received information that a man had been shot in the area. When police arrived, they found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries. His identity has not yet been released as authorities work to notify family members.

The case is now being handled by the department’s Violent Crimes Unit, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
