A years-long fraud case tied to a Cass County victim is finally seeing justice.
It was back in 2020, the victim reported being scammed out of more than $150,000 in what investigators say was part of a large international scheme.
After six years of investigation, a Florida woman connected to that operation has been sentenced in federal court. The scam, known as an “advance fee lottery scheme,” targeted victims across multiple countries and totaled more than $3 million in losses.
Danielle Diarbakerly will spend just over three years in prison and must pay more than $3.4 million in restitution to 28 victims.
