Elkhart Community Schools announces early departure of superintendent

Elkhart Community Schools is announcing the departure of Superintendent Dr. Larry Huff.

Under his leadership, the 2025–2026 school year saw improvements in graduation rates and IREAD performance, earning recognition from the Indiana Department of Education.

District leaders also addressed financial challenges, saving about $5 million and improving long-term stability.

Huff also guided the district through a major school consolidation effort. He is leaving to become superintendent at Rockford Public Schools.

So he came in, jacked everything up, and is bailing before the bad idea implodes. We saw this recently with South Bend too!

It won’t matter at all. There will be a long line of equally worthy people in line to take his place. Then the school will continue to spend our tax money and fail to educate our kids.
