A 16-year-old Elkhart boy charged with murder in a March shooting death will now face trial later this year.

Emerson Rodriguez Oviedo is accused in the death of 19-year-old Marco Lopez Terrazas, who was found shot on Morton Avenue.

Police say the teen went to a home, where a confrontation turned physical and moved outside before gunfire erupted.

Investigators later tracked down Rodriguez and say he admitted to the shooting, claiming self-defense. In court, his new attorney requested more time to review evidence.

The Goshen News says a judge granted the request, moving the jury trial from June 1 to October 5.
