BCHD raises awareness about dangers of underage drinking

In recognition of Alcohol Awareness Month, the Berrien County Health Department is raising awareness about the dangers of underage drinking.

They’re partnering with the Voice.Change.Hope. Alliance, the effort aims to prevent alcohol use among those under 21 and provide tools for families.

Health officials say alcohol remains the most commonly misused substance among young people, with about one in five teens reporting they’ve had a drink.

They stress early, open discussions can influence safer choices, especially during prom and graduation season.

More resources are available through the health department’s underage drinking prevention campaign.
