Man arrested in deadly Michigan City motorcycle crash

A 45-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal motorcycle crash in Michigan City.
Police say the crash happened around 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, at Franklin Street and Westwind Drive. Officers found 23-year-old Matthew Castellanos of LaCrosse with life-threatening injuries. He later died at the hospital.
Investigators say Castellanos was traveling south when a northbound van attempted to turn left into his path, causing the collision.
The driver of the van, Keith Starnes, was arrested on charges including reckless homicide and operating while intoxicated.
Police say Castellanos was not wearing a helmet. Toxicology results are pending, and additional charges could be filed.
