Local leaders question signature count presented before December data center vote

Local leaders in New Carlisle say information presented during a December meeting on a proposed data center rezoning was not accurate and are reviewing the numbers that were used.

At that meeting, county leaders rejected the rezoning request.

In a meeting this week, leaders said petition totals presented as support for the project did not match what they counted later.

One official said the difference was several hundred signatures and that some names appeared to be from outside St. Joseph County.

They said they are still reviewing where the signatures came from and how they were compiled.
