Theft at Southside Baptist Church

unsplash.com
Someone cut out and stole an air conditioning unit from Southside Baptist Church between April 9 and April 12, according to the Elkhart County Police Department.
The pastor says the unit sat on the north side of the building and didn’t work, so it may have been taken for scrap metal.
He says a family member first noticed it was gone.
He also says the church has dealt with repeated problems over the past few years, including vandalism and attempted thefts.
They now plan to replace the unit and add security, but say the church will keep serving the community.
