A man accused in the death of a toddler has been found competent to stand trial.

Miguel Garcia’s defense attorney asked to delay the June 1 trial, saying newly discovered jail calls could impact the defense case.

The Goshen News says Garcia is accused in the December 2024 death of a toddler, identified as Z.S., who suffered severe head injuries.

Investigators say medical evidence did not match claims the child was hurt in a fall days earlier.

The judge instead reset a status hearing for May 21 while attorneys review the jail calls.
