Lightning may be to blame for South Bend house fire

Firefighters believe lightning caused a house fire Monday afternoon in South Bend.

The South Bend Fire Department said crews were dispatched just after 1:30 p.m. to the 1300 block of Leeper Avenue for a reported lightning strike investigation.

Authorities said a caller reported seeing lightning strike near a home in the area.

No injuries were immediately reported. The incident remains under investigation.
