An Elkhart County murder case involving the death of a 20-month-old child has been delayed until November.

Miguel Garcia had been scheduled to stand trial June 1, but defense attorneys told the court they are still reviewing medical records and autopsy reports with a pathologist.

The Goshen News says Garcia is accused in the December 2024 death of the child after investigators said the toddler suffered severe head injuries inconsistent with an accidental fall.

Court documents say police uncovered cellphone videos showing the child appearing healthy early in the day, then later unable to lift his head and crying in pain.

Garcia’s new jury trial date is Nov. 2.
