Man involved in burglary, kidnapping case sentenced to 25 years

One of several men accused in a violent burglary and kidnapping case has been sentenced in Elkhart County Circuit Court. 

Josue Garcia Miranda received a 25-year sentence after pleading guilty to robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, kidnapping and intimidation.

Court records say the victim was beaten, threatened at gunpoint and forced into a vehicle while suspects demanded information about a firearm.

The Goshen News says police later recovered surveillance footage and evidence tying Garcia Miranda to the crime.

During sentencing, Garcia Miranda apologized and said he plans to seek substance abuse treatment while incarcerated. Ten years of his sentence were suspended to probation.
