Downtown South Bend will kick off summer with its June First Fridays event, Kids’ Night Out, on Friday, June 5.
Hosted by Downtown South Bend, Inc., the free family-friendly block party will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. along the 100 through 300 blocks of South Michigan Street, which will be closed to vehicle traffic during the event.
Families can enjoy a variety of activities, including introductory golf experiences hosted by First Tee, lawn games, interactive science demonstrations from Lifelong Learner Labs, and character appearances featuring popular princesses and superheroes. Additional entertainment includes magic performances by Abracadabra Magic at the South Bend Chocolate Cafe beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Live music will be featured throughout the evening, with Brian Mach performing on the main stage and The Music Village Community Jammers playing near the State Theater.
Other attractions include the Studebaker Car Club Show, the kickoff of the St. Joseph County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, food trucks, and local vendors.
Parking in city-owned garages will be free after 5 p.m. Organizers say no registration is required, and the event is open to the public.
Downtown Goshen is celebrating nearly two decades of First Fridays with a special Birthday Bash. The event runs from 5 until 9 p.m. and marks 19 years of First Fridays community events as organizers look ahead to the festival’s 20th anniversary next year. Visitors can enjoy live entertainment, food, shopping, family activities, and birthday-themed fun throughout downtown.
