City leaders gathered this past Thursday to celebrate the completion of a major renovation project at the Byers Softball Complex on South Bend’s southwest side.
The $3 million project was funded through a state grant secured with the support of state senators David Niezgodski and Ryan Mishler.
Improvements include rebuilt softball fields, upgrades to the press box and concession areas, new irrigation and drainage systems, enhanced signage, shade structures, parking lot improvements, and a new splash pad featuring a Life Floor safety surface.
City officials say the renovations are designed to improve recreational opportunities, attract more tournaments, and strengthen the city’s park system.
