A Mexican citizen living illegally in the United States has been sentenced after pleading guilty to reentry of a removed alien. 

Thirty-four-year-old Bernardo Chagala-Cosme received a sentence of time served.

Authorities encountered him in LaPorte following a crash investigation in January, where he was found with a small amount of cocaine and an elevated blood alcohol level.

Court records show he had previously been removed from the country three times before returning illegally.
