A 40-year-old Elkhart woman was injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on County Road 26 near County Road 22.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was driving west on County Road 26 around 4:25 p.m. when her Kia Cadenza crossed the center line and entered the path of an eastbound 2007 Ford F-250 towing a landscaping trailer.
The vehicles collided head-on, causing significant damage to both. The woman became trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency responders.
Medics from the Baugo Township Fire Department treated her at the scene before she was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for additional care. Authorities reported she suffered leg and head injuries.
The 17-year-old driver of the pickup truck and a passenger were not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
