A court hearing has been scheduled in Indiana’s case against an alleged unlicensed childcare operation in Elkhart County.

State officials are seeking a permanent injunction during a June 18 hearing that would prohibit the operation from continuing.

The lawsuit names two women accused of operating a childcare facility from a home on County Road 42 without the required licensing. Neither woman has been arrested or criminally charged.

Investigators executed a search warrant at the property last week and reported finding 86 children on site. According to court filings, 66 of those children were located in a basement that lacked a fire escape.

Authorities said they had previously visited the residence several times and issued a cease-and-desist order in April following complaints.
