St. Joseph County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating reports of dangerous driving involving a large group of vehicles that traveled through the county.

It happened on Saturday night, June 20.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, deputies initially received numerous calls about reckless driving involving an estimated 30 to 50 vehicles traveling at high speeds throughout the area. Around 9:30 p.m., additional reports indicated the same group may have moved onto the U.S. 20 Bypass.

Witnesses reported vehicles blocking traffic lanes, stopping on the roadway, setting off fireworks and performing donuts on the highway.

Sheriff William Redman condemned the activity, saying the behavior endangered motorists and responding law enforcement officers.

Authorities are reviewing evidence related to the incidents and are working with the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office to determine whether criminal charges will be filed.

Anyone with photos, videos or information about the incidents is asked to contact the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department at 574-235-9569.

Something needs to be done to get control of the US 20 bypass.
Little or no enforcement of speed limit.
