Drivers traveling on U.S. 20 in Elkhart County should expect delays on Wednesday evening, June 24, as crews remove an overhead sign structure near the State Road 19 interchange.
According to INDOT, work is scheduled to begin around 5 p.m. with alternating lane restrictions on all eastbound lanes of U.S. 20 and the passing lane of westbound U.S. 20.
Between approximately 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., crews will conduct two rolling slowdowns in the eastbound lanes to allow for the safe removal of the overhead structure. Each slowdown is expected to last about 10 minutes, with at least a 20-minute gap between them.
Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution in the work zone, and follow directions from traffic control personnel.
Temporary directional signs will be installed until a replacement overhead structure is put in place.
