Indiana cities and towns are considering implementing a wheel tax for road funding.

The Greenwood recently adopting a higher vehicle registration fee. Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett vetoed a wheel tax in his city, while Beech Grove is also contemplating one.

Backers say the current tax structure in Indiana does not provide enough funding for road maintenance, prompting the need for local solutions.​
