An Elkhart man accused of killing another man along the St. Joseph River last summer will return to court later this month. 

59-year-old Michael Hawkins Jr. faces a murder charge in the July 2025 shooting death of Anthony Null.

During a trial status conference Thursday, Hawkins’ attorney requested an additional status hearing, now scheduled for August 20, ahead of a previously scheduled September 24 conference.

The Goshen News says Hawkins has remained in custody since his arrest.
