A man wanted on domestic violence-related allegations is now in custody following a pursuit in LaPorte County.
Sheriff’s deputies tried to pull over 30-year-old Jacob A. Gilmore back on Aug. 6 near U.S. 20 and County Line Road.
Deputies say Gilmore was wanted on allegations involving invasion of privacy and domestic battery.
Instead of stopping, investigators say he took off, leading officers through several townships, including Coolspring, New Durham, Scipio, Clinton, Cass and Dewey.
The pursuit ended when Gilmore’s SUV went off the roadway and became partly submerged in a waterway.
Deputies say Gilmore ignored their commands after the crash and tried to swim away.
He was eventually taken into custody.
