Indiana, Michigan and Ohio finished in the bottom half of a new study of the best states to live in.

A new study from Wallethub ranked Indiana 25th, Ohio 28th, and Michigan 29th, based on metrics including housing costs, job opportunities, education, safety, commutes, and overall quality of life. Indiana also ranked 4th in the nation for affordability.

Idaho was the best state to live in, with New Mexico finishing at the bottom of the list.

Illinois finished 18th.

The best placement in the region was Wisconsin, at third. Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia were all in the 40s.
