Federal health officials are tracking the continued spread of a drug-resistant fungus in the United States.
The CDC says more than 3,400 cases of Candida auris have been identified this year in 26 states, including Indiana and Michigan.
The fungus is most often found in hospitals and nursing homes and primarily threatens people with serious medical conditions.
Officials say the risk to healthy people is low, but they’re urging health care facilities to continue screening patients and following strict infection-control measures.
