The Humane Society of St. Joseph County is looking for homes for dozens of dogs ahead of a major air conditioning project.
The shelter needs to move 36 dogs out of the facility by noon Tuesday, August 18th, before crews install a new H-VAC system the following day.
Officials say keeping the animals inside without adequate air conditioning during the summer heat would not be safe.
To help find homes, the shelter is waiving dog adoption fees through August 18th. Adopted dogs will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
Temporary foster homes are also needed through at least August 24th, with the shelter providing food and other supplies.
Foster applications are requested by Thursday, August 13th.
