South Bend drivers warned of Colfax Ave. restrictions

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)
Drivers in South Bend can expect continued restrictions along Colfax Avenue as a major streetscape project moves forward.
Milling and paving is underway between the East Bank Trail and Eddy Street. The road remains open, but traffic is restricted through the work zone.
Paving is expected to wrap up Thursday, weather permitting, with Colfax between Niles Avenue and Eddy Street scheduled to fully reopen by September 1st.
The next phase will shift construction between Sycamore Street and Gintz Drive and is expected to continue through the end of October.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph County is scheduled to begin a separate project Monday to rebuild the Colfax Avenue bridge over the St. Joseph River and the intersection at Colfax and Doctor Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard.
