Indiana’s agricultural technology sector is expanding its global footprint as Israeli ag-biotech firm IBI Ag moves its North American headquarters to the state.
Announced by Governor Mike Braun during the Indiana-Israel BioHeartland Summit, the project represents the first corporate entry under the Iron Nation-Indiana initiative-a $60 million economic development program designed to bridge Israeli technology firms with U.S. markets.
IBI Ag specializes in developing next-generation bioinsecticides designed to give farmers targeted, sustainable alternatives to conventional chemical sprays. The company leverages artificial intelligence, protein engineering, and biological targets to create custom crop-protection solutions.
Under the new arrangement, the Indiana headquarters will serve as the core management hub for IBI Ag’s U.S. presence. Operations will include managing field trials, regulatory affairs, strategic partnerships, and preparing for eventual commercial product launches following federal approvals.
“IBI Ag’s decision to establish its North American headquarters in Indiana is a testament to our state’s dominance in the agricultural sector,” Governor Braun said in a statement. “This is an important first result of our partnership with Iron Nation as we work to connect Indiana’s world-class industries and research institutions with some of Israel’s most promising technology companies.”
The company already maintains ties to Indiana through an ongoing collaboration with Indianapolis-based Corteva Agriscience. IBI Ag leaders plan to build out further local capabilities across executive management, regulatory affairs, and commercial operations, while deepening research ties with state academic institutions.
According to Indiana Secretary of Commerce Chuck Goodrich, IBI Ag has already placed an Indiana-based executive on its leadership team, signaling a long-term commitment to establishing deep operational roots within the state’s life-sciences ecosystem.
IBI Ag is developing novel bioinsecticides through a platform that combines validated biological targets, protein engineering and AI-driven de novo protein design. Its approach is designed to create highly targeted biological solutions with new modes of action, giving growers effective chemical insecticides.
