A school bus accident involving South Central Community School Corporation students occurred on Wednesday, Sep. 2, at the intersection of State Road 39 and County Road 950 South.

According to South Central Superintendent Benjamin Anderson, 16 students were on Bus 16-3 when the crash occurred. No injuries were reported. One student was evaluated by EMS at the scene, with a parent present.

Preliminary information indicates the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado fell asleep while driving. After waking, the driver attempted to avoid a collision with the school bus.

The bus, driven by substitute driver Virginia Logan, was making a right turn from State Road 39 onto County Road 950 South when the incident occurred.

School officials said Logan remained alert and reacted quickly, helping prevent what could have been a more serious accident. School Safety Director Gary Biggs responded to the scene and worked with law enforcement to ensure the students’ safety.
