An Elkhart man was arrested after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Roads 37 and 22 in Elkhart County.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sep. 9, when a northbound 2014 Jeep Wrangler failed to yield at the intersection and struck a 2002 Oldsmobile traveling eastbound on County Road 22.

The Jeep sustained heavy front-end damage, while the Oldsmobile suffered heavy damage to the driver’s side.

The Jeep was driven by 30-year-old Saul Garcia Garrido of Elkhart. An 11-year-old boy was also in the vehicle. The Oldsmobile was driven by a 41-year-old man from Howe and had two juvenile passengers from Middlebury.

All occupants were wearing seat belts. One passenger in the Oldsmobile suffered minor scrapes and marks to the right shoulder and upper chest. No one involved in the crash accepted medical treatment.

Garcia Garrido was taken to the Elkhart County Jail and faces charges including operating while intoxicated with a passenger under 18, endangerment, habitual traffic violator status, and operating without financial responsibility.
