Construction is underway on a major expansion at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds.
Ground was broken Friday for a new 47,500-square-foot agricultural and community expo center. The building will house the swine club during the fair and will also be used year-round for trade shows, agricultural events, conferences and community gatherings.
The project also includes a new health and wellness center for fire and EMS operations during the fair, along with campground, livestock barn and infrastructure upgrades. The expansion is funded through donations, grants and fairgrounds resources, with completion expected by summer of 2027.
