The Indiana Department of Transportation will hold hiring events across northwest Indiana next week as the agency prepares for the upcoming winter season.

INDOT is seeking seasonal employees to assist with snow and ice removal, highway and traffic maintenance and other winter operations. Hiring events are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at INDOT facilities in Gary, LaPorte, Plymouth and Rensselaer.

Winter seasonal positions generally run from early November through March and pay $21 an hour for full-time operations. Eligible employees may also qualify for a $250 sign-on bonus and a $500 retention bonus.

Applicants must have a valid commercial driver’s license.

Interviews will be conducted on-site, and registration is not required. INDOT recommends candidates apply online before attending to speed up the process.

The LaPorte event will be held at 315 E. Boyd Boulevard. The Plymouth event will take place at 2845 Jack Greenlee Drive.

INDOT is also hiring seasonal workers in Monticello, although a hiring event is not scheduled there.
