Reduced sentence for man accused in Elkhart drug case

A 54-year-old man has received a reduced sentence after pleading guilty in an Elkhart County drug case.

Samuel Mayes was found with methamphetamine, cocaine and a digital scale in his vehicle following a police pursuit in September 2025.

The Goshen News says he was also accused of threatening Burger King employees and driving while intoxicated.

Mayes received four years for meth possession, with two years served on probation. Several other charges were dropped through his plea agreement.
