More than $11 million in federal funding will help modernize container operations at the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor.
U.S. Senator Todd Young says the $11.2 million grant will pay for specialized equipment needed to start a Great Lakes container service and handle freight regularly at the Portage facility. The money comes through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Port Infrastructure Development Program.
Young says the project could expand shipping options for Indiana businesses and strengthen the state’s role in trade.
