(95.3 MNC)
Two drivers suffered potentially life-threatening injuries in a wrong-way crash on I-65 in Lake County.
Indiana State Police say a southbound vehicle in the northbound lanes collided nearly head-on with a northbound SUV near mile marker 257, between 61st Avenue and Ridge Road.
Both drivers were trapped and had to be freed from their vehicles.
They were taken to the University of Chicago for treatment.
The highway was closed for about three hours. Investigators believe alcohol or drugs may have contributed.
The case will be reviewed by the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office.
