A Nappanee man has admitted to arson.

21-year-old Christopher Hochstetler pleaded guilty to a lesser charge after admitting he tried to set his home on fire while his mother was inside.

According to court documents, he used a candle lighter, toilet paper and logs throughout the house.

The Goshen News says his mother woke up after the home’s fire alarm sounded.

Hochstetler’s sentencing hearing is scheduled in county court for December 3.
