Rookie Alexander Rossi wins the 100th Indianapolis 500

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Rookie Alexander Rossi has won the 100th Indianapolis 500 conserving fuel down the stretch.

The 24-year-old Californian drove the final 36 laps on his last tank of fuel, and ran out on the way to victory lane for Andretti Huerta Autosport.

Rossi took over the lead when Carlos Munoz had to pit for a splash of fuel with four laps to go.
